In Focus - The Nantucket

Spring is without a doubt my favourite time of year for many reasons, the most prevalent being that it's time to start shedding scarfs and heavyweight shoes. Clocks have gone forward symbolising that we have officially made it through the long arduous winter. We just need the sun to turn up now, or at least stay out for longer than half a day. Either way, we are all starting to consider our summer wardrobe, and mine is ready to go…
My top pick is a new shape for the Jam team in The Nantucket Cotton shirt. The perfect accomplice to factor into your spring summer packing. As a new shape, unseen before, the Nantucket shirt takes some introducing… Made using 100% cotton knitwear, it was a shared brain child of Andrew and Izzy to design a classic resort shirt, with small pockets for your sunnies and cigars, but made using the same 7 gauge knitting structures we have become known for. The shirt styling takes inspiration from early Elvis Presley cardigans, and Jude Law’s costumes in the classic “The Talented Mr. Ripley”. Quite simply put by Andrew “we just wanted to blend a load of cool stuff into one shirt; it’s swanky enough to wear to dinner, bold enough to pair with your lunchtime Rose, and soft enough to have a snooze in. I’m not taking it off."
Thinking of how I’m going to wear it, my mind transports to beach evenings and after work drinks, all the nostalgic favourites. Let’s be honest, we all want our summer wardrobes to be carefree and easy and this shirt ticks those boxes with is neutral ecru base colour and then a playful hint of Papaya.

The name is Inspired by Nantucket, an island off North America’s east coast that is largely known for its picturesque beaches, cobblestone streets, and dash of preppy. Just like our Devon and Cornwall home, the island is vibrant in the tourist season with an outdoor, alfresco lifestyle. So just as charming as its namesake, The Nantucket brings the summertime energy. With an aura of free spiritness, the Nantucket sits alongside a few of our signature Guernsey and hector jumpers, our fleeces and sweatshirts as a truly genderless garment. Growing up in a big family, both Mark and Andrew have always wanted to build the Jam brand around garments that can be shared by all, inspired by the loving memories of long days turned nights in the sand in Amagansett, Devon, Cornwall and occasionally Norfolk!
Pair it with linen trousers for a fresh summer look or tart it up with some dark navy jeans and be prepared to share this one with your loved ones!

So as I mentioned before… we just need the sun to turn up now. Personally, I think I’ll be pairing it with just a bikini!
