Lymington is a town that's found the sweet spot between forest and sea. Cobbled lanes tumble down from the Georgian High Street to a working quay full of sailing boats, the New Forest sits right on the doorstep, and the Isle of Wight is a short ferry ride away. It's a proper sailing town with the shops, cafes and restaurants to match — the kind of place that rewards a slow wander rather than a quick dash round.
Our store is right in the middle of it, so if you're in town it's always worth popping in to see the latest arrivals. Here's everything we've found to love about Lymington, from the bakery next door to the lido that's been going since 1833.
GETTING HERE & PARKING
Queen Katherine Road is the one to know — free parking all day, and only a couple of minutes' walk into town. Can't say fairer than that.
COFFEE & BREAKFAST
Two minutes down the cobbles towards the quay, this is our go-to for a proper coffee. The bagels are excellent, but the cookies are the real reason to detour.
Right next door. Ice cream in more flavours than you'll manage to choose between, plus milkshakes, bubble tea and good coffee if you need a top-up.
PICNIC SPOTS
Lymington Quay
Two minutes down the cobbles and you're looking straight out over the water. Sea views, plenty of benches and public toilets close by — a great spot to watch the boats come and go, especially as the sun starts to set.
DINNER
One minute down the cobbles. British fine dining with a menu that changes with the seasons and leans hard on local produce. The tasting menu is the move, and booking is essential — this one's for date nights.
A 15-minute walk along the sea wall (a lovely one, at that) or a 4-minute drive. Seafood-led, locally sourced, and blessed with wraparound views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. Come for the fish and chips, stay for the terrace. Works for a date, a family dinner or just a relaxed evening out, and no booking needed.
DRINKS & PUBS
Two minutes down the cobbles on the quay. Sea views, a proper traditional pub feel, and a garden that looks straight out over the water. The Sunday roast is a highlight, and it's genuinely family-friendly.
WALKS & OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Lymington Sea Wall
A flat, scenic walk out along the marshes with views across the water the whole way — one of the best ways to get your bearings on the town.
Lymington Open Air Sea Water Baths, Bath Road
Five minutes' walk from the store, this lifeguarded outdoor lido dates back to 1833, making it the oldest in the UK. There's a sauna too, for warming up after your dip.
Rib Charter
Hire a RIB and head across to the Isle of Wight for the afternoon — a different pace entirely, and a proper Lymington thing to do.
LYMINGTON MARKET
Every Saturday, 8am–3pm, right along the High Street. A great one to combine with breakfast at Coffee and Drift.
HIDDEN GEM: HOP ON THE FERRY
Once you've explored Lymington, jump on the Wight Link ferry over to the Isle of Wight. Browse the shops, grab a bite and a drink with sea views at the George Inn, or try your luck at securing a table at The Hut — one of the Island's most popular restaurants.
