Out of Focus - Polzeath is Pumping

Out of Focus - Polzeath is pumping
If you've visited any of our stores, you will already know just how passionate our team is about sharing their favourite local hotspots. We are very proud of the areas we reside in and love to share other business ventures and pass on recommendations, so that anyone visiting can be sure to enjoy a variety of local offerings.
Close to our Padstow store is the notorious surf and summer holiday spot, Polzeath. We recently spent one of our team days in the 'Village' and loved every minute, so we decided that we should share the magic with you too.
We never start the day without a coffee, and when it comes to good coffee in Polzeath, we are really spoilt for choice. Our personal faves are Flo's (also offer an unreal bacon and avocado bap) or beach box on the sand.
An early highlight of our day was heading over to Baby bay for a wood fired sauna experience hosted by Saunas by the sea. It’s tucked away in the sheltered bay and conveniently next to a small food truck in case you get peckish. The juxtaposition of the hot sauna and cold sea work perfectly to awaken the senses at the start of the day!
There's no day in Polzeath without a trip to Surfside restaurant for their extensive rum selection and beach side cuisine! It is the perfect place for an apres surf snack or if you've already eaten, get stuck into the infamous rum bar, with regular live music events all year round. As per the name, Surfside is about as close to the lineup as you can get, located directly on the beach. There's nothing quite like a sunset spent sipping beers with your feet in the sand!
To stay, we highly recommend Polzeath Beach house, perfectly poised on the New Polzeath waterfront. This family (and dog friendly) hotel is the perfect spot to move from beach to bar with it's popular Atlantic Italian restaurant downstairs. They have cultivated a smart blend of beach luxury and coastal cool. With unrivalled views of the ocean, delicious food and comfy rooms, it has been highly recommended by guests for over a 100 years now. They must be doing something right.
You can’t really come to Polzeath without surfing and specifically at the point. If you’re new to surfing then Wavehunters is where you should head for friendly and encouraging lessons or just a chat and some advice on the conditions. They are closely connected to the neighbouring surf school at Surf's Up, and for private one to one tuition there's also Georges surf school. If you're more of a grab and go kind of person, Bustys board hire on the beach will offer a friendly educated guide to your first surf hire!
For a smarter meal with a perfect view The Cracking crab is suitable for any meal of the day, but specifically as per the name; for a seafood feast. They serve anything from light bites to sharing platters and it is our favourite for a romantic clifftop sunset view.
So that’s just a brief snippet into some of the reasons we love the North Cornwall hotspot and a taste of our favourite places to frequent. Theres such a vast range of activities from golf and Padel at the Point, Tennis, surfing and even a new outdoor gym and wellness centre opening very soon... If you're looking for some 'active recovery' from your day to day, there's no place quite like it.
